Why Turmeric Capsules May Be Your Solution for Natural Pain Relief

No delicious curry is complete without turmeric.

But there is so much more to this ancient, golden Indian spice than first meets the eye.

Turmeric has become known as one of the most powerful herbs on the planet at fighting and potentially reversing disease.

And the great news is, it’s based on scientific data and is now a widely researched medicinal herb with more than 10,000 (and counting!) peer-reviewed articles published on its benefits.

Turmeric orCurcuma longa has been used for 4,000 years to treat a plethora of diseases and conditions ranging from indigestion to infections.

But arguably one of the most powerful aspects of turmeric is its ability to control inflammation.

The reason this is so important is that inflammation is the main culprit in many chronic (and non-chronic) health issues.

Because turmeric powerfully tames inflammation, it then has huge flow-on effects, like helping people who are dealing with chronic pain, whether a headache, postsurgical pain, post-trauma pain, lower back pain, arthritis pain, or pain caused by nerve damage.

Turmeric, the Spice Heavyweight

Using turmeric as a spice is a healthful practice, but taking its derivative curcumin as an herbal supplement will produce a more profound medicinal effect.

Turmeric comes from the Curcuma longa plant, which grows in India and other Southeast Asian countries.

Curcumin is the major active ingredient responsible for turmeric’s medicinal properties and studies have even suggested that Curcumin may bemore effective in treating some conditions, like rheumatoid arthritis, than some prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs.

But how does it provide natural pain relief?

The answer lies in its composition combined with its natural anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immune boosting properties:

  1. Anti-inflammatory

Curcumin, which is the main active ingredient in turmeric, reduces inflammation by lowering histamine levels and stimulating the adrenal glands to produce more cortisone, the body's natural painkiller.

  1. Halts Free Radicals & Toxins

It also delivers a powerful shot of antioxidants, providing anti-inflammatory effects for the brain and body. Plus, as an extra boost, it also stimulates our bodies’ antioxidant enzymes helping to remove all those nasty free radicals and toxins.

  1. Supercharges Your Immune System

When we’re sick, our bodies try to get back into balance and flush things out of our system. Taking medicine can often suppress our immune system’s natural response to illness.

On the other hand, turmeric is one of the foods with the highest levels of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also antiviral and antifungal. So taking turmeric can not only manage pain when it happens, it can go a long way in preventing it in the first place.

  1. Brain (and mood) Boost

Unfortunately, if you’re one of the many people who live with a chronic illness or pain (like heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, asthma, back pain, knee pain, the list goes on!), you are also at greater risk of developing depression and anxiety.

But because turmeric has been shown to have positive effects on dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain, research is also focussing on it as a treatment option for depression and anxiety (and while you’re at it you can increase your memory and concentration skills!)

So from detox to depression, turmeric is fast becoming a health “must-have.” And for good reason: it’s well-researched, incredibly potent, and safe.

With more and more research and scientific studies showing positive results in its effectiveness in treating chronic health issues and diseases across the board, it’s certainly worth considering adding turmeric to your daily healthcare routine.
